AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY AND ADVISABILITY OF ESTABLISHING A NEW COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE IN NORTH CAROLINA AND TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR THAT PURPOSE.

    Directs the Board of Trustees of North Carolina State University (NCSU), in consultation with the College of Veterinary Medicine at NCSU to study the feasibility of establishing a new college of veterinary medicine at another higher education institution in North Carolina. Requires the Board to report study results to the specified NCGA committee by March 15, 2027. Provides that the study shall consider the need for additional veterinarians (especially for large animals), costs and benefits of a new college of veterinary medicine, and a suitable location for the new college.

    Appropriates $300,000 for 2026-27 from the General Fund to the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina to be allocated to NCSU to conduct this study.

    Effective July 1, 2026.
