TO REQUIRE THAT ANY PERSON ISSUED AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE PERMIT BE LAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES; TO PREVENT THE ABC COMMISSION FROM ISSUING A SPECIAL ONETIME PERMIT TO ANY PERSON LESS THAN TEN BUSINESS DAYS FROM THE PLANNED EVENT; AND TO GIVE NOTICE TO THE ALCOHOL LAW ENFORCEMENT DIVISION OF ALL SPECIAL ONETIME PERMITS ISSUED WITHIN THREE BUSINESS DAYS OF THE PERMIT’S ISSUANCE.

Bill summary

Amends GS 18B-900(a) to require a person to have a valid Social Security number or be able to produce valid documentation demonstrating legal presence in the U.S. in order for the person to be eligible to receive and hold an ABC permit. Amends GS 18B-1002 to provide that a special one-time permit must not be issued less than 10 days before a qualifying event. Requires the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission to notify the Alcohol Law Enforcement Division of specified applicant and event information no more than three business days after a one-time permit is issued. Applies to permits issued on or after the date that the act becomes law.
