Bill summary

House committee substitute makes the following changes to 1st edition. Deletes all the provisions of the 1st edition and replaces it with AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE NASH COUNTY TO PROVIDE GRANTS TO PROMOTE BROADBAND IN UNSERVED AREAS FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE COUNTY. Authorizes a county to provide grants to unaffiliated providers of high-speed Internet broadband to expand service in unserved areas for economic development in the county; however, does not authorize a county to provide high-speed Internet broadband service. Limits the county to use of unrestricted general fund revenue for the grants and provides criteria for awarding the grants. Applies only to Nash County.
