Bill summary
Senate committee substitute to the 3rd edition makes the following changes.
Reduces the limit on aggregate fees and charges directly or indirectly charged to a customer for a single transaction or series of transactions under GS 53-457 (virtual currency customer fees) from 14% to 12% of the dollar equivalent of the virtual currency involved in the transaction or transactions.
Extends the date by which the Commissioner has to develop a process for determining when a virtual currency transaction is fraudulent, along with other rules necessary to implement the act, from December 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027. Extends the effective date of the act from December 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027.
