Bill summary
Requires the Chancellor of UNC-Chapel Hill to permanently remove the Confederate soldier monument that had been located at the center of McCorkle place (commonly identified as "Silent Sam") from the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, including any part of the monument being stored by UNC-Chapel Hill or that has been returned to a site on campus, and transfer the entire monument into the custody of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (Department). Requires the Department to move the monument to a new site in a cemetery located in the State that is the burial location of a significant number of Confederate soldiers of the Civil War. Prohibits the UNC Board of Governors from directing the relocation of the monument inconsistent with the act.
