AN ACT TO MODIFY THE PROCESS FOR FILLING VACANCIES ON THE CABARRUS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS; TO PROVIDE FOR THE PARTISAN ELECTION FOR MEMBERS OF THE CURRITUCK COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, SUBJECT TO A REFERENDUM; TO PROVIDE FOR THE PARTISAN ELECTION FOR MEMBERS OF THE PITT COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION; TO REQUIRE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN ALL OF THE MUNICIPALITIES IN PAMLICO COUNTY TO BE HELD IN EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS; TO REQUIRE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN THE VILLAGE OF SIMPSON TO BE HELD IN EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS; AND TO REQUIRE THAT MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN THE CITY OF MONROE BE CONDUCTED IN EVEN-NUMBERED YEARS ON A PARTISAN BASIS.

Bill summary

Amends Section 4.1 of the Charter of the Village of Simpson to require that regular municipal elections be held in even-numbered years instead of odd-numbered years, beginning in 2026. Makes additional conforming and technical changes.

Extends the terms of office for the current Mayor and three Council members by one year. Prohibits holding municipal elections in 2025 and requires that Simpson's regular municipal elections be conducted in even-numbered years beginning in 2026 and every two years thereafter.
