Enacts new section, GS 131E-161.1, limiting the liability of emergency medical personnel in cases where personal injury or death occur as a result of an act or omission in the performance of their duties. Emergency medical personnel are only liable for damages in cases where there is gross negligence, wanton conduct, or intentional wrongdoing.
Effective for causes of action arising on or after July 1, 2013.
