AN ACT TO AMEND THE CHARTERS OF THE TOWNS OF RAYNHAM AND ORRUM TO EXTEND THE TERM OF OFFICE FOR THE MAYOR OF RAYNHAM AND MAYOR OF ORRUM FROM TWO YEARS TO FOUR YEARS; TO EXTEND FOR THE TOWN COUNCIL OF ORRUM FROM TWO YEARS TO FOUR YEARS; AND TO ALLOW FOR ELECTIONS FOR ALL TOWN OFFICERS IN RAYNHAM AND ORRUM TO BE CONDUCTED ON THE SAME SCHEDULE. Enacted June 28, 2017. Effective June 28, 2017.

Senate amendment #1 amends the 2nd edition by adding a new section, amending the Charter of the Town of Orrum in SL 1983-993. Extends the terms of office for the mayor and town council members from two to four years beginning in 2017, and quadrennially thereafter. Makes conforming changes, including amending the act's long title. Makes language gender neutral.

House committee substitute makes the following changes to the 1st edition.
Amends the Charter of the Town of Raynham to provide that the members of the Board of Commissioners and the Mayor, beginning in 2017, and quadrennially thereafter, will be elected for terms of four years. Deletes the provision requiring Commissioners to be elected in a staggered fashion.
Repeals SL 1975-388, as amended, being Section 4 of the Charter of the Town of Raynham.
Validates all elections in the Town of Raynham since May 26, 1975, notwithstanding any irregularities. Ratifies and confirms any and all actions of the Board of Commissioners since May 26, 1975, notwithstanding electoral irregularities.
