AN ACT TO REMOVE THE FORTY-FIVE-DAY PERIOD A PERSON CONVICTED OF A FIRST IMPAIRED DRIVING OFFENSE WITH AN ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION OF 0.15 OR ABOVE MUST WAIT PRIOR TO LIMITED DRIVING PRIVILEGES BECOMING EFFECTIVE.

Bill summary

Amends GS 20­179.3. Makes the provision delaying by 45 days the issuance of limited driving privileges to persons convicted of impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .15 or more inapplicable to persons who have not previously been convicted of impaired driving. Does not authorize the issuance of limited driving privileges to a person otherwise ineligible under this statute. Makes technical changes.

Effective December 1, 2017, and applies to limited driving privileges issued on or after that date.
