Bill summary

Amend GS 14-415.13(a) to require applicants for a concealed handgun permit to provide the sheriff with a copy of a current and valid photo identification (was, photographs). Amends GS 14-415.10 by defining photo identification as a North Carolina drivers license or special identification card. Amends GS 14-415.16 to require submission of a copy of a current and valid photo identification when applying to renew the concealed handgun permit. Amend GS 14-415.17 to require the inclusion of the photo from the photo identification on the permit.

Requires the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to adopt rules establishing the size of the photo required and placement on the permit. Allows the SBI to adopt temporary rules to implement this act. 

Applies to permits issued or renewed on or after October 1, 2021.
