Senate amendment #1 makes the following changes to the 2nd edition.
Adds language to proposed GS 14-269(b), which allows an off-duty state correctional officer to carry a concealed weapon, requiring the correctional officer to meet the firearms training standards of the Division of Adult Correction of the Department of Public Safety if the concealed weapon carried by the off-duty officer is a handgun.

Adds that prosecutions for offenses committed before the December 1, 2015, effective date are not abated or affected by the act, and the statutes that would be applicable but for this act remain applicable to those prosecutions.

Amends GS 14-269(b) concerning exemptions from the prohibition on carrying concealed weapons, providing that state correctional officers are exempt from the prohibition on carrying concealed weapons when off duty and not consuming alcohol or an unlawful controlled substance, or while alcohol or such substance remains in the officer's body.
Effective December 1, 2015.
